Spinal cord stimulators (SCS) are implantable medical devices used to treat chronic pain of neurologic origin, such as sciatica, intractable back pain, and diabetic. The device generates an electric pulse near the spinal cords dorsal surface, providing a parasthesia sensation that alters the perception of pain by the patient, and is typically used in conjunction with conventional medical management.
